The words “remodel” and “renovate” are often used interchangeably. However, in the construction industry, these terms mean two very different things.

Home Renovations

The term "RENOVATE" typically means to make NEW again. In the world of home construction, this includes new appliances, installing new lighting fixtures, re-painting, re-facing cabinets, or updating other finishes and fixtures. The original design of the home isn’t altered drastically, but rather, it is updated to the current design trends and standards. A room renovation in your home, especially a kitchen, not only makes the space more attractive, but also adds value to the home or property. For instance, if you’re looking to sell your home in the near future, adding stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and replacing the cabinets in your kitchen will often increase the chance of a sale and deliver a return on your investment.

Home Remodeling

The term "REMODEL" typically involves altering or changing the use of a space or floor plan. When the structure and style of a space is completely transformed, this is considered a remodel. If you want to change the layout of a room and re-configure the floor plan, you’re remodeling. In a kitchen remodel, for instance, you may decide to combine the kitchen with the living room to create an open concept kitchen layout. Or perhaps you’d like to install a kitchen island to create more functional space for cooking. Whatever it is, remodeling breathes new life into a room, giving the space a whole new look and feel. Home remodeling involves complex design considerations as well as construction, electric, and plumbing expenses, it typically costs more than renovating. For this reason, it is important to consult an experienced design build contractor or architect before you begin a remodeling project. If you are interested in remodeling your home, it always pays to make sure that your project gets done right the first time around.

Timber Framing

Page Timber Works is one of the few construction companies in Central Arkansas that specializes in the age old art of Timber Framing. Timber Framing and "post-and-beam" construction are traditional methods of building with heavy timbers, creating structures using squared-off and carefully fitted and joined timbers with joints secured by large wooden pegs. It is commonplace in wooden buildings from the 19th century and earlier. If the structural frame of load-bearing timber is left exposed on the exterior of the building it may be referred to as half-timbered, and in many cases the infill between timbers will be used for decorative effect.

The method comes from working directly from logs and tree rather than pre-cut dimensional lumber. Hewing this with broadaxes, adzes, and draw knives and using hand-powered braces and augers (brace and bit) and other woodworking tools, artisans or framers could gradually assemble a building. Since this building method has been used for thousands of years in many parts of the world, many styles of historic framing have developed. These styles are often categorized by the type of foundation, walls, how and where the beams intersect, the use of curved timbers, and the roof framing details.

3D Home Design Services

3D Home Design takes away the guess work and helps our customers envision what the project will look like once it's completed. Most clients find this tool very helpful when designing a new home addition, porch addition, kitchen remodel, bathroom renovation or a floor plan re-design to give you more space. The fine details and realistic look of our 3D Home Designer is the best way to create and make changes before actual implementation of the construction project.

When we create a 3D Home Design, we take the time to hear your wants and needs, and we make as many needed changes until your full vision is achieved while sticking to your budget. Our 3D Home Designer creates a smooth process for our clients and for us. It assists us in providing an exact quote, time frame for project completion, and there is typically no alterations or changes being done during the remodel process.
